Gallagher Lake is in Hamburg Township, Livingston County, right next to Whitewood Lake (MichiganLakes.com). It's one of the lakes on the Huron River Chain of Lakes (HRCOLA lake data), about 1.7 miles from Lakeland (USGS GNIS place data) and 25.7 miles from downtown Fenton. When I checked in November 2026, my site had no Gallagher Lake homes for sale, so the button above shows all Hamburg Township waterfront homes, and I'm happy to set up a saved search just for Gallagher Lake.

Lake Overview

• Location: Hamburg Township, Livingston County, along Lakepointe Drive (MichiganLakes.com).
• Size: sources vary. HRCOLA lake data and MichiganLakes.com list 76 acres, EGLE MiEnviro inland lakes mapping about 85, and DNR data about 189 (Michigan's Named Inland Lakes, DNR data via MLSA). Published depths also differ, so I've left depth off.
• Boating: I didn't find a Michigan DNR local watercraft control naming Gallagher Lake (Michigan DNR Livingston County watercraft controls). HRCOLA lists Gallagher among the chain lakes that can't handle wake boats running in wake mode (HRCOLA).
• Public access: there's no public launch on Gallagher; the only public launch on the chain is the Michigan DNR site on Portage Lake off MacGregor Road (HRCOLA).
• Shoreline: Microsoft building-footprint map data shows about 126 buildings near the shore.

Living on Gallagher Lake

Gallagher is a chain lake, so no-wake channels take you from Portage and Base Line through Whitewood and Gallagher up to Strawberry and Zukey (Wikipedia). Small lake at home, miles of water a short cruise away.

Hamburg Township & Schools

Gallagher Lake homes are in Hamburg Township. Hamburg Township waterfront homes on my site today are in Pinckney Community Schools or Brighton Area Schools, so I confirm the district for every address.

Tips for Buyers

• Understand riparian rights. Michigan waterfront ("riparian") owners generally have rights to dock and reach the water (EGLE inland lakes guide). "Lake privileges" or a shared lot is different, so read the deed and any easement.
• Know the local rules. I'll check Hamburg Township zoning, association rules, and any dock or shoreline rules for the specific parcel.
• Seawalls and permanent docks generally need an EGLE permit, while seasonal docks usually don't (EGLE dock handout). Ask for permit records.
• Confirm sewer or septic and well, and schedule inspections for any private system.
• Check the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and get a flood insurance quote early.
• Gallagher is in Hamburg Township's Aquatic Weed Control special assessment district (Hamburg Township Aquatic Weed Control S.A.D.; HRCOLA), so many shoreline parcels carry a weed control assessment. I'll check whether the parcel is in the district and get the current amount in writing.
• Taxable value generally "uncaps" after a sale (MCL 211.27a), so don't budget off the seller's tax bill.
• Ask about dock depth and the channel route to the other chain lakes.

Tips for Sellers

• Lead with chain-of-lakes boating from your own dock.
• Say "Gallagher Lake" and "Huron River Chain of Lakes" in your listing.
• Have frontage, dock, seawall permit and septic or sewer details ready.
