Welcome to Strawberry Lake

Strawberry Lake is in Hamburg Township, Livingston County, just south of Zukey Lake (MichiganLakes.com) and about 24.9 miles from downtown Fenton. It's one of the biggest lakes on the Huron River Chain of Lakes (Wikipedia). In November 2026, my site had one active listing, 10256 Buhl Drive, plus two that were already pending.

Lake Overview

• Location: Hamburg Township, Livingston County (MichiganLakes.com).
• Size: about 261 acres in DNR data (Michigan's Named Inland Lakes, DNR data via MLSA); EGLE MiEnviro inland lakes mapping shows about 259, and HRCOLA lake data and MichiganLakes.com list 257. Published maximum depths disagree (50 vs. 64 feet), so I'd treat depth as unconfirmed.
• Boating: I didn't find a Michigan DNR local watercraft control naming Strawberry Lake (Michigan DNR Livingston County watercraft controls). Wake boats can run in wake mode only in a small area (HRCOLA).
• Public access: there's no public launch on Strawberry; the only public launch on the chain is the Michigan DNR site on Portage Lake off MacGregor Road (HRCOLA).
• Shoreline: Microsoft building-footprint map data shows about 250 buildings near the shore.

Living on Strawberry Lake

Strawberry is a crossroads of the chain. No-wake channels link it to Zukey and the rest of the chain (Wikipedia). The Buhl Drive listing highlights 73 feet of all-sports frontage and sunset views (listing). Ore Lake and Buck Lake are nearby.

Hamburg Township & Schools

Strawberry Lake homes are in Hamburg Township, and all three current listings are in Pinckney Community Schools. Hamburg Township waterfront homes on my site today are in Pinckney Community Schools or Brighton Area Schools, so I confirm the district for every address.

Tips for Buyers

• Understand riparian rights. Michigan waterfront ("riparian") owners generally have rights to dock and reach the water (EGLE inland lakes guide). "Lake privileges" or a shared lot is different, so read the deed and any easement.
• Know the local rules. I'll check Hamburg Township zoning, association rules, and any dock or shoreline rules for the specific parcel.
• Seawalls and permanent docks generally need an EGLE permit, while seasonal docks usually don't (EGLE dock handout). Ask for permit records.
• Confirm sewer or septic and well, and schedule inspections for any private system.
• Check the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and get a flood insurance quote early.
• Strawberry Lake is one of the lakes in Hamburg Township's Aquatic Weed Control special assessment district (Hamburg Township Aquatic Weed Control S.A.D.), so many shoreline parcels carry a weed control assessment. I'll check whether the parcel is in the district and get the current amount in writing, along with any subdivision or association dues.
• Taxable value generally "uncaps" after a sale (MCL 211.27a), so don't budget off the seller's tax bill.
• EGLE no longer approves copper sulfate for starry stonewort on Strawberry, to protect the snuffbox mussel (Hamburg Township Aquatic Weed Control S.A.D.). Ask how weeds are handled near your shoreline.

• Lead with chain-of-lakes boating and sunset views.
• Say "Strawberry Lake" and "Huron River Chain of Lakes" in your listing.
• Have frontage, seawall, dock and permit details ready.
