Welcome to Lime Lake
Lime Lake is a quiet, private lake in Genoa Township, Livingston County, near Brighton and about 19.2 miles from downtown Fenton. It's not Limekiln Lake in Green Oak Township. When I checked in October 2026, my site had no Lime Lake listings, so the button above shows all Genoa Township waterfront homes, and I'm happy to set up a saved search just for Lime Lake.
Lake Overview
Living on Lime Lake
Lime Lake feels tucked away. About half the shoreline is natural and undeveloped, many homes date from the late 1970s to the 2000s, and frontage runs from about 100 feet to over 200 feet (a local agent's Lime Lake page).
Genoa Township & Schools
Lime Lake is in Genoa Township, with Brighton mailing addresses. a local agent's Lime Lake page lists Brighton Area Schools, wells and septic systems, but I confirm the district and utilities for every address.
Tips for Buyers
- Understand riparian rights. Michigan waterfront ("riparian") owners generally have rights to dock and reach the water (EGLE inland lakes guide). "Lake privileges" or a shared lot is different, so read the deed and any easement.
- Know the local rules. I'll check Genoa Township zoning, association rules, and any dock or shoreline rules for the specific parcel.
- Seawalls and permanent docks generally need an EGLE permit, while seasonal docks usually don't (EGLE dock handout). Ask for permit records.
- Confirm sewer or septic and well, and schedule inspections for any private system.
- Check the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and get a flood insurance quote early.
- I didn't find a published lake association or lake special assessment for Lime Lake. Many homes are in the Pine Creek subdivision, which has an association lake access area (a local agent's Lime Lake page), so I'll confirm HOA dues and any assessments in writing.
- Taxable value generally "uncaps" after a sale (MCL 211.27a), so don't budget off the seller's tax bill.
- Ask whether a home has direct frontage or only access through the subdivision, and confirm any motor rules with the association.
Tips for Sellers
- Lead with the quiet water and natural shoreline.
- Say "Lime Lake, Genoa Township" to avoid mix-ups with Limekiln Lake.
- Have well, septic and HOA records ready.
FAQ
Can I use a gas motor on Lime Lake?
A local agent's Lime Lake page reports it's a no-gas-motor lake, and I didn't find a DNR control naming it (Michigan DNR Livingston County watercraft controls). I'll confirm the rules.

Not that I found. I'll confirm what lake access comes with any home.
How big is Lime Lake?
About 39 acres in DNR data (Michigan's Named Inland Lakes, DNR data via MLSA).
