Hamburg Lake is in southern Hamburg Township, Livingston County, between Whitmore Lake and Strawberry Lake (MichiganLakes.com). It's about 0.9 miles from the Hamburg community and 2.7 miles from Whitmore Lake (USGS place data via TopoQuest), and about 25.2 miles from downtown Fenton. Lake Overview

• Location: Hamburg Township, Livingston County, with Whitmore Lake addresses (MichiganLakes.com).
• Size: about 99 acres in DNR data (Michigan's Named Inland Lakes, DNR data via MLSA); EGLE MiEnviro inland lakes mapping also shows about 99 acres, while MichiganLakes.com lists 88.
• Boating: I didn't find a Michigan DNR local watercraft control naming Hamburg Lake (Michigan DNR Livingston County watercraft controls).
• Public access: some online directories mention a launch, but I didn't find an official DNR or township source for one. Ask me, and we'll confirm what applies to a specific home.
• Shoreline: Microsoft building-footprint map data shows about 83 buildings near the shore.

Living on Hamburg Lake

Hamburg Lake gives you a smaller lake close to the US-23 corridor. Whitmore Lake, about 9 miles north of Ann Arbor and 9 miles south of Brighton with US-23 along its west side (Wikipedia), is just a few miles away for groceries and restaurants.

Hamburg Lake homes are in Hamburg Township with Whitmore Lake addresses. Hamburg Township waterfront homes on my site today are in Pinckney Community Schools or Brighton Area Schools, so I confirm the district for every address.

Tips for Buyers

• Understand riparian rights. Michigan waterfront ("riparian") owners generally have rights to dock and reach the water (EGLE inland lakes guide). "Lake privileges" or a shared lot is different, so read the deed and any easement.
• Know the local rules. I'll check Hamburg Township zoning, association rules, and any dock or shoreline rules for the specific parcel.
• Seawalls and permanent docks generally need an EGLE permit, while seasonal docks usually don't (EGLE dock handout). Ask for permit records.
• Confirm sewer or septic and well, and schedule inspections for any private system.
• Check the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and get a flood insurance quote early.
• I didn't find a published lake association or lake special assessment for Hamburg Lake. Hamburg Township's weed control district (Hamburg Township Aquatic Weed Control S.A.D.) lists Gallagher, Long, Strawberry and Zukey lakes and the Huron River, not Hamburg Lake. I'll confirm any dues or assessments on the parcel in writing.
• Taxable value generally "uncaps" after a sale (MCL 211.27a), so don't budget off the seller's tax bill.
• Ask the seller about water depth at the dock and seasonal weeds, since I didn't find a published depth or lake survey.
