Lake of the Week: Lobdell Lake
Oct. 21, 2026 | Written by: Kennedy ChristensenWelcome back to Lake of the Week! Last week we kicked things off on Lake Fenton. This week I'm heading over to Argentine Township for one of my favorite big lakes in the area: Lobdell Lake.
What Makes Lobdell Lake Special
Lobdell is Argentine Township's big all-sports lake, about six miles from downtown Fenton, with Linden as the nearest town. At roughly 546 acres (Michigan's Named Inland Lakes), there's room to boat, ski and fish. The Ed Constable Team lake guide lists a maximum depth of 78 feet and connections to Bennett and Hoisington lakes, and it straddles the Livingston County line.
Anglers can look for bluegill, crappie, largemouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. If you don't live on the water yet, the Michigan DNR launch has a hard-surface ramp and 26 parking spaces, and a Recreation Passport is required (Outdoor Michigan).
A Lake With a Real Community
One of the things I love about Lobdell is its active lake association. The Lobdell-Bennett Lake Association runs fishing contests, boater safety classes, and Labor Day fireworks and decorating contests. It also works with a professional lake manager on weed control. That kind of involvement says a lot about how much people here care about their lake.
Who It's a Good Fit For
- All-sports boaters. Tubing, skiing and cruising on a lake with plenty of room.
- Families. Current Lobdell listings show Linden Community Schools, though I always confirm the district for each address.
- Anyone who wants lake life near Fenton and Linden. You're close to town without giving up the water.
A Tip for Sellers
If you own on Lobdell, get your paperwork ready before you list. Buyers will ask about your frontage, dock size, seawall permits and water depth, plus your sewer bills, well records and any lake assessment amounts. Argentine Township has dock rules (Ordinance 46), so knowing your setup is compliant builds trust. And lead with what makes Lobdell shine: all-sports boating, the DNR launch and the active association.
What's on the Market Right Now
As of Oct. 21, my Lobdell Lake waterfront search shows 4 homes: 3 for sale and 1 pending. The 3 for sale are listed from $425,000 to $599,000. You can browse the current Lobdell Lake listings here, and my full Lobdell Lake guide covers riparian rights, dock rules, schools, utilities and FAQs.
Thinking about buying or selling on Lobdell Lake, or on any of our Genesee County area lakes? I'd love to help.
